I've used Calendar Creator 10 Deluxe for a couple of years without problems, but all of a sudden it crashes when I try to access the Properties window. This happens using both right click and the menu. The Properties window displays incompletely, and then the dialog box pops up that says "Calendar Creator has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I thought the calendar file was corrupt, so I created a new calendar. Same problem. I did a repair install. Same problem. I uninstalled, ran my reg cleaner (Advanced System Optimizer) and reinstalled. It still crashes when the Properties window comes up.

In light of that history, I suspect that the culprit may be Windows even though it only affects CC. I ran ShellEx View and could not see any handlers that came specifically from Broderbund or anything that is specifically for the .bcc file extension.

Any ideas on what could be causing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Found a pointer to the problem but would like some help in solution. Drwatson says:

0043716e ff1554a35c00 call dword ptr [ccreator+0x1ca354 (005ca354)]
and then there are several sections that say
*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for C:\WINDOWS\system32
there are several blocks like this, each referencing a different dll.

If this is a CC problem, why didn't uninstall/reinstall fix it? And if it is something in Windows, what can I do about it?

Bump

I tried googling "symbols cannot be loaded" but all I found was a lot of stuff about development and debugging, or else things that crashed Windows. (Sorry, I don't speak technic-ese very well.) I couldn't find anything about getting this error in a program that had previously been working, and that crashes that program and only that program.

Okay, it looks like it's something with CC. The last time I tried uninstalling, I got some message that said C:\Program Files\Broderbund\SharedAppFiles\imgr.ocx did not unregister." I looked in system32 and couldn't see a file by that name. Reinstalled and get the reverse message - the imgr.ocx file did not register. And the Properties window still crashes the program. Internetsecurityzone.com says it's a connection manager. (What I need a connection manager for in a program that I never let connect to the Internet I don't understand.)

Well, the culprit appears to have been WindowBlinds! Problem went away when I changed to a desktop that doesn't require it. I still don't know why that one file won't register, but since it's a connection manager for a program that has no reason to connect to anything, it's probably useless and I won't worry about it.
