I got my monthly or so notice that Flash Player got an update, and I saved the file to my Downloads folder, opened it and it installed without a problem. But when I went back to the Download folder, the file was gone. I am 80% sure of this. Did something change with the latest version of Flash Player that would produce this state of affairs?

    Running Windows XP.

That's what happened in Windows 7--the update deleted itself after successfully installing.

It happens now in XP too. This is normal behaviour. :)

I don't allow Adobe Flash Player ActiveX and Adobe Flash Player Plugin to self-update, so I'm personally not aware of it doing that.

I download and save the full installer file, then close all open windows, then install it over the previous version.

This has worked well for me.

I don't either Frank. I download the installer and run it from my desktop. After the installation the installer self deletes. :)

I got XP and download the full installer file and install and the installer does not self delete because it's still there.

The full version apparently doesn't delete itself but most people download the file from the Adobe Flash Player page that ends in "aih.exe" which is only a helper file that retrieves the actual update. It self-deletes as it's no longer needed.

I always use the full version to install because the online installs can be a pain and what you get post here for help.
