Friends Desktop PC - running retail version of XP (its a white box, I built it a few years ago)

When it boots you get the message
This was after putting an IPOD in to charge - 1st time an ipod has been used on the PC
    The IPod nolonger connected

    Tried over the phone
I checked the boot order and changed to make the HDD first
    still the same

I'm sure i Have seen in these forums the same issue - tried a search an could not find
to do with boot order or booting off an ipod
could not find boot from USB

any ideas - I'll phone back tonite (in GMT timezone - now 18:20 ) if a solution is offered otherwise Ill go over tomorrow
