Solved: Reboot Loop

Hey all! My GF's PC is having a reboot loop issue. No BSOD to speak of and all virus checks have come back negative. Here is the Hijack log. Can someone give me some assistance? Thanx in advance.
P.S. Nothing has changed with the PC in quite some time, so I doubt it is software related.

The scanlog is ok. It's possible you are just not seeing the blue screen.

Do this:

Start > run: sysdm.cpl > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > take the check out of "automatically restart" if present.

And see if any "minidump" files have been created so far.



I can run a debugging utility on the dump files if you do this:

1 > create a new folder on the desktop and call it "dumpcheck" or whatever you like
2 > navigate to %systemroot%\minidump and copy the last few minidump files to that folder.%systemroot% is normally c:\windows. They are numbered by date. You can paste that address in address bar to get there.
3 > close the folder and right click on it and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder. Please do NOT compress them in .rar
4 > use the "manage attachments" in the "advanced" reply window to upload that zip file here as an attachment.

This might point us to a 3rd party driver causing the error, if one exists for it.

Since almost all bugchecks can be caused by faulty ram, I would recommend you perform memory tests.

The only minidump I have was from last Nov. None since. There is no blue screen as I have watched it myself and did not see it come up. I'll open up the case and see how dirty it may be. I can easily replace the RAM. There is only 512 in there anyway. Good time to give it a little boost. I'll reply back in a day or so due to a family emergency. Thanx for the info. Okedoke, it sounds hardware related -- reseat the drive cables while you're in there -- and afterwards you might want to run chkdsk on the drive as well. You can try running on one module at a time if you have two.

Hope the family stuff works out for you in the meantime.

UPDATE!!!

I noticed the bridge fan was not working and also that one of the fan blades on the PS was gone. I had power only to the board and it comes up to the disk boot failure(as it should), but when I plugged in the HD, it didn't want to some up. I figure that would mean it's the PS itself. I picked up a bridge fan and a new 600W PS and now it all seems to be working good. We'll see how it goes for a while and I'll let you know if I have any other issues.
