    Appreciate some assistance.

Trying to help a friend who has a Norton Protected Recycle Bin.

In the recycle bin he has the Norton Icon, and also some files from a download that went bad.

When he tries to right click the files to delete them, he cannot.

Any suggestions as to how he can get rid of these downloaded files?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Go to Start > Shutdown > Reboot into MS-DOS.

If this is Milennium, you'll need to start your computer with a boot disk.

Now type the following lines to delete your recycle bin, clicking 'enter' after each line:

    cd\
    deltree recycled
    exit
or win (to return to Windows).

A brand new Recycle bin will be recreated, and your problem should be over.

    Good luck, Tony

    Thanks for the replies.

There is a Norton Protected Recycle Bin icon in the Recycle bin.

Will there be a problem with that program if the Recycle bin is deleted from MS-DOS?

    (He is running W98SE)

You'll probably lose your Norton Protected Recycle Bin, but it won't affect the program any other way.

I'm not 100% sure, but you will probably be able to restore Norton Protection to your RB from within the NU options.

    Thanks for the info.

Had to get a brand new Recycle Bin recreated with the following suggested approach:

    Start>Shutdown>Restart in MS-DOS
    at the prompt, entered:
    cd\ (enter)
    deltree recycled (enter)
    exit (enter)

Guess the folder itself became corrupted, so had to delete the 'Recycled' folder in W98SE.

Probably could have deleted the 'Recycled' folder from Windows Explore, but guess this approach (deltree) deletes only what is in it.

The Norton Protedted Recycle Bin remained as before, didn't lose it.

    :D
