It recently came to my attention that I have ClientMan on my computer. After doing some research I've learned that it is one nasty piece of work. I went to the website responsible for this adware and they had an uninstall thing on there website, I did it and all it did was add 4 more ClientMan files to my computer. So far I've always been able to get rid of them all except one, there is always one ClientMan file left on my computer after every sweep. I've tried SpySweeper, Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware 6.0 but none of them have been able to completely remove it, can someone give me some help with this?

I suspect you will have more than just ClientMan.....
    Do this:
go to http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.....
Unzip it to its own folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

If you have anything disabled by MSConfig or any other startup manager, please re-enable it before scanning to post.

    ;)

First run this uninstaller to get rid of the peper.a trojan:

    http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/uninst.exe

*Note: Just click on the uninst.exe and let it run. When it is finished it will just close. There will be no dialogue. Also you must be connected to the internet for the uninstaller to be effective.

Click here to download CWShredder. Close all browser windows,UnZip the file, click on the cwshredder.exe then click "Fix" (Not "Scan only") and let it do it's thing.

When it is finished restart your computer.

IMPORTANT!: To help prevent this from happening again, I strongly recommend you install the patches for the vulnerabilities that this hijacker exploits.

The simplest way to make sure you have all the security patches is to go to Windows update and install all "Critical Updates and Service Packs"

Go here and download Adaware 6 Build 181

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest referencefiles.

Make sure the following settings are made and on -------ON=GREEN

From main window :Click Start then Activate in-depth scan (recommended)

Click Use custom scanning options then click Customize and have these options selected: Under Drives and Folders put a check by Scan within archives and below that under Memory and Registry put a check by all the options there.

Now click on the Tweak button in that same window. Under Scanning engine select Unload recognized processes during scanning and under Cleaning Engine select Let windows remove files in use at next reboot

Click proceed to save your settings.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

    Restart your computer.

Then go here and download Spybot Search & Destroy.

Install the program and launch it.

Before scanning press Online and Search for Updates .

Put a check mark at and install all updates.

Click Check for Problems and when the scan is finished let Spybot fix/remove all it finds marked in RED.

    Restart your computer.

Come back here and post another Hijack This log and we'll get rid of what's left.

Next run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close all windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

    Restart to safe mode.

How to start your computer in safe mode

First in safe mode click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

    Now find and delete:

    The C:\WINDOWS\elmnof.exe file
    The C:\WINDOWS\System32\wtffmpc.exe file
    The C:\WINDOWS\System32\dp-k13w13.exe file
    The C:\WINDOWS\System32\wapisvcc.exe file
    The C:\WINDOWS\System32\msgked.exe file
    The C:\WINDOWS\System32\regsrv32.exe file
    The C:\Documents and Settings\Tamela\Application Data\rncr.exe file

Also navigate to the C:\documents and settings\tamela\local settings\temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

    Empty the Recycle Bin.

    Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
    Restart your computer.

When you are sure you are clean turn it back on and create a restore point.

Go here and do an online virus scan:

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Be sure and put a check in the box by "Auto Clean" before you do the scan. If it finds anything that it cannot clean have it delete it or make a note of the file location so you can delete it yourself.

Also I highly recommend that you go to Windows update and install all "Critical Updates and Service Packs". This will patch numerous security holes in IE and Windows.

Somehow you have managed to pick up another CWS hijack since your last post.

Click here to download the latest version of CWShredder. It has been updated since your last post.

Come back here and post another Hijack This log and we'll get rid of what's left.
