Solved: Reset wireless router now can't secure the wireless connection!

I have a Presario M2000 with Windows XP. I have been using a Linksys WRT54G wireless router for three years with no problems. Recently a relative, unable to find the Encryption Key, "reset" the router. It still works fine but it is now an unsecured connection.

I tried to secure the connection by running the Linksys installation CD four times. I called Linksys and was informed that my service contract, which I did not know I had, had expired. If I paid them $39.99 they would walk me through a new installation that I could make secure.

I tried to check out their website, linsysbycisco.com, but it seems not to exist!

I had no idea that I would not be able to change the security settings of the router after a certain amount of time! Is there anything I can do, short of paying them $39.99, to make the wireless router connection secure?

(I am a new member and posted this question twice as I titiled my first inquiry with my user name...sorry!!!! ....wont do it again!)
