We need a new computer in the household, and I thought instead of plunking out for a new set of problems I might be able to install a new mobo/cpu in our old HP8650C --all the other peripherals, HDD, optical drives, etc function normally. Any thoughts on this? Fool's errand? Just trying to keep the outlayunder a couple hundred bucks while learning something in the process...

    Thanks for your attention!
