Many years ago, I had a spider-like program that would follow all links within a defined domain and save each page (and associated images, CSS, etc) to the computer for offline viewing. Does anyone know of a modern incarnation of this that works well enough to be recommended? Thanks!

A friend of mine pointed me to this program:
http://www.httrack.com/

It will mirror a web site to a local computer and seems to change the HTML to point to the local images rather than remote. So far, it seems to be working brilliantly.
