I have both WORD (Office 2000) and MS WORKS in my computer. When I save a "Wordpad," document it automatically is in WORKS format. Is there a way to have files saved in WORD format rather than WORKS?

The choice of saved file format does not include WORD's.

Thanks, {redoak}

You can force it to save by typing "filename.doc" in the file name. It won't be a true 'Word" file and will nag you to save in lastest version of word, but it will open with Word.

Thanks for the reply and advice. I have sent these files to others who were unable to open them, presumably with the usual "two left clicks." I now know that if they right click and go to "Open with" there are a number of possibilities that work. I will have to give that advice when I send a Wordpad file.
