I was told that if I leave my computer on for any extended length of time that I should have a screensaver running. Instead of using those what I do is just turn my monitor off. Is a screensaver necessary?

Thank you,

I haven't used a screensaver or standby in years. Just turn the monitor off and save a little $$ on the light bill.

Or use a screen saver that blanks your screen or configure the power settings to turn off your monitor after a certain amount of time of no computer usage.

Thank you so much. I didn't think I needed to use one, but just wanted to make sure.
Thanks for taking the time.
