Since about a few weeks ago, I have been unable to do any search using Yahoo or Google, the only 2 that I know of. Every search using IE goes to "http://yahoo.com" or "http://google.com". THe search results are a bunch of garbage sites, pay sites, commercial sites, ...etc. Every search using Firefox goes to "http://search.yahoo.com" or "http://search.google.com" and list useful results, as it had always been. I have attached my ht log. Will someone please take a look at this and see if I have been hijacked. Thank you in advance.

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

    Download Spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Click on "Search For updates" when prompted.

    Scan, click on fix problems.

    Reboot.

    Download AdAware SE Personal: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Install the program and launch it.

On the bottom right-hand corner of the main window click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

In the main window: Click Start and under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

To start the scan, click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and then click Next)

    Reboot and post another log.

Cybertech, thanks first for your help.

I do have a question before I proceed with Adaware. I paid for Adaware 6 professional and Ad-watch 3.0, which still update with the latest definitions. Can I just use those instead of the free Adaware SE? Is Adaware SE better?

Hi Cybertech, I finally did it. Here is the latest hjt log. I notice there are 3 references to Epson. I do not use my Epson printers. Can I delete those also? BTW, should I also delete the "016" entry?

    You can remove the O16.

Have you removed the software and printer associated with the Epson? If so you can go ahead and fix those items with HJT.

Cybertech, thanks again for your advice. I will remove the 016 and the Epson stuff. Does the hjt log look ok otherwise?

Yes. When you are ready do this:
    Now turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

    To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done.
