After removing numerous malware, spyware, and adware programs, I get the following error message when I go into the Security Center under Control Panel:

"The Security Center is currently unavailable because the "Security Center" service has not started or was stopped. Please close this window, restart the computer (or start the "Security Center" service), and then open the Security Center again."

I've rebooted but still can't get into it??? I also cannot get into the Windows Firewall because the Security Center is not set up.

Any suggestions?? The tech helping me with the virus problems said to post in here.

start, run, type: SERVICES.MSC and click OK

scroll down to SECURITY CENTER, right click, properties, set to start AUTOMATICALLY from the drop down menu, APPLY, START, OK

I don't have a Security Center listed. I have a Security Accounts Manager...would this be the same thing?

Could this have be removed when removing the other problems, can I get it back? Any way I can do a search for it?

did you restart the computer? have you checked whether the security center service is listed now or not?

It is there now...when I double click it, I get the message "Configuration Manager: The specificied device instance handle does not correspond to a present device." After I hit ok, I get the screen where I can change the Startup type to Automatice and then when I hit Start, I get the message "Could not start the Security Center service on Local Computer. Error 1083: The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service."

download, unzip and run this FIX

Click the Inspect and Fix button once, and then restart Windows for the changes to take effect. Note that this utility requires administrator credentials to run correctly.
