Solved: Server problems big time.

    Hi,

    If i put "~somecode~" into a linux server, what does it do??

    Ive not put this into corporate, only home server. But its a problem.

    OK, so it turns out that may not have been the code, but i did put a fork bomb onto the command line and ran it at... my own stupidity.
    Can I ask how detrimental this kind of thing is in terms of data loss, the server working again and any damage to hardware??

    The server was running for about 10 minutes after the process was ran before it was turned off manually.

    I am not sure I am allowed to reference a site I found similar code on, or the code itself, so will await a reply.
