Sometimes we all gather lots and lots of starup programs we don't need to be in there or running services.
Have you had a look in config recently ?

Start/search box enter RUN type msconfig in box.

In the Startup tab have a look to see if there are any programs that you do not need to be there.
Your not removing them, just preventing them starting up when everything else does, hence slowing startup time. Only uncheck those you know don't need to be there, eg paint shop pro, open office, dvd burner etc etc unless you want them to.
In the Services tab , again see if there is anything there that you do not need running all the time.

If you are in any doubt as to what the running services do, DO NOT UNCHECK the boxes.
Note them down and search the net for info.

This may help but you may also have software you need slowing you down too.

    Hi LeonDavid,
You can do many things to make computer faster.
Make some room to C, empty your downloads and clean up your desktop. Uninstall software, you're not using. Do the Disk Cleanup.

Shut down all messengers, when you are not using them (MSN, Yahoo, Skype...).
You could try a reg cleaner, but be sure that it makes back up files of everything.
You should probably do disk defrag, if your windows is old. If that doesn't help just re install.

Problem may still be the bandwidth. If it's slow, nothing helps..

Right-click MY COMPUTER, then click Properties. What's the processor type and speed, and how much RAM is there?

Double-click MY COMPUTER, right-click the hard drive icon, then click Properties. What's the size of the hard drive and how much free/unused space is there?

Click Start - Run, type in MSCONFIG, then click OK - Startup(tab). How many entries have a checkmark?

Go here and click the green icon to download and save HijackThis 2.0.2.

Close all open windows first, then install it in its default location: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.

Start it, then click "Do a system scan and save a log file".

When the scan is finished in a few seconds, a log file will appear.

Save that log file, return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the entire log file here.

Do not use a registry cleaner. If it makes you unable to enter windows the backup is useless.

You've marked your thread as solved. If you decide that you still have a problem, reply to post #4.

And I'll add to what was said earlier. Never ever install and use a registry cleaner/booster/optimizer/tuneup program. Besides doing nothing to improve speed or performance, they can break certain programs and damage the operating system.

What do you do if the right side of the Start box is black? I cannot access My Computer, Search, Run, or anything else that is supposed to be on the right side.
