Hi guys...ok here's my dilemma...I am geting a extremely slow "windows is starting up" usually about 3-6 min then when everything loads up I end up experiencing a lot of locking up and crawling when doing simple tasks like moving files. I only have like 4 programs in the area next to my clock running. I have recently taken my puter to a friend/tech and he cleaned up my puter of the viruses it had and the spy/adware it had, ran some hardware tests and memory tests and claimed everything was fine...not the case...my puter shouldnt be experiencing these probs...anyone have a clue? Also I forgot to mention that I checked my sys startup and the main thing that seems to be running the most is the system idle process usually at 99 nothing else seems to be taking anything and there are about 30-35 processes running.
this is my puter:
AMD 1800+
40 GB HD
160GB HD
512 MB DDR ram
GForce 4 graphics card
GIGabyte mobo (forgot what model #...sry not at home right now)
Sony DVD +/-burner
Sony DVD ROM
Mitsumi cd burner
Windows XP Pro

Could be a possibility of reasons one your "friend" didn't clean up your comp properly, second it could be that you installed alot of programs that are all programed to automatically start at start up, file sharing programs if you have any eat up alot of memory and could cause severe slow downs at start up, third you should defrag your harddrive i like using perfectdisk because it re aranges so boot files are loaded at front of your drive but the inbuilt defrag works just as fine also maybe you should post the processes running right after your boot up so it may be easier to identify your problem.

my friend is a tech. So I dont think he did anything wrong but who knows about that. And I went through my system and only put what was needed to run at startup. Also I did defrag my HD's with XP. HOw would I post the process running on here so Maybe ppl can get a better idea of wtf is happening?

okay well I ran my adware pro gram again and found some new things. My friend told me that VX2 stuff needs to be deleted from the exe itself but I didnt do that I just used my Adware SE to delete it. Anyhow I also ran a program called "tuneUp Utilities 2004" and things are looking good so far. The hanging has seemed to stop but the start up is pretty much the same. Anyhow here is the HiJack log after I ran those programs:
I put it as an attachment so lemme know what you guys think...and thanks fer the help...Much appreciated!!! :)

Another thing you can do as well as using Tune-Up Utilities which is a great program is to try Diskeeper 9 Professional's 30 day evaluation program. Whilst you have it use it to defrag the paging file and MFTs and then see if the MFTs need padding with Frag-Shield.

CCLeaner helps to clean up the system too.

If you are using Norton System Works and automated scanners your system could probably benefit from another 512Mb of RAM.

When I use Norton Products I only have the anti-virus and firewall starting up with Windows. I never use the protected recycle bin and any other items I only use as I need them.

So if you did a standard install I would re-install Norton and only have these two items starting.

Limeshop is known to be problematic.
