My playback on all sounds is altered. It is most noticable when people talk. Sounds like they just inhailed helium. Same on google chrome and internet explorer. Direct x diagnoses properly. Also playback on CD's is altered. Any ideas for a quick fix? Sound is realtec '97 onboard card. Running XP home.

    Thanks.

Have you tried updating your sound card driver?

Tried updating realtec AC'97. Windows could not find a better driver. I'm hesatant to go on the web because this particular build has worked fine for years. Any other ideas?

Can I update this driver without spending any money with these driver update sights?

Thank's Phantom010. I downloaded driver from realtec directly and it fixed the problem after a restart.
