The first thing I would do is put all the RAM in it you can: 4GB of which your 32 bit system will be able to use up to 3.5GB of it.

    4 GB Maximum of dual-channel PC3200 DDR-400 or PC2700 DDR-333 when 1 GB PC3200 DIMMs become available.

Is there a reason your not protecting that computer with an Anti-Virus program and Malware program?

A good Anti-Virus program that is Free to use and is highly recommended here is: Microsoft Security Essentials and or Avast. http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx
    http://www.avast.com/en-us/free-antivirus-download

Only have one Anti-Virus program installed at a time, otherwise the computer will not be a happy camper...

Also recommended: These programs get along fine with your Anti-Virus program.

Be sure to Update each before running your scans.

One more vital bit of information. Your Windows Vista is missing a lot of updates. If you plan on keeping Vista you should get it up to date.

By installing SP1 and SP2 yourself instead of using Windows update, you will save a lot of time. I have included downloads for them. You must install SP1 first, then SP2.

After you get these installed, then use Windows update to get caught up on the rest of the updates.
