I am still unable to get my query to filter the data to suit my requirements. the only way I can see how to do it is to have 16 queries based on a further 16 queries, 32 in total, to give what i need. somehow I think there must be a simpler way, using 1 or 2 queries. Any help would be very grateful.
    Thanks
    Ben

I tinkered around and tried to do what you asked but couldn't get the report to take the focus from the form. However, this still works - just click on the report.

thanks for your reply, its nearly there. I need the report to show the last entry for each position for each unit. there are 16 positions for each unit, eg. 30A, 30B, 30C, 30D, 40A, 40B, etc.
    thanks
    Ben

this report has levels by number and tire type, and sorts it from oldest to newest. However, you can't do some of what I did in the query and show only the last of a field - I suspect we need someone to write a bit of VBA that will do all of this in a few lines of code.

Not too sure, but I think he wants each of the 8 car numbers (30, 31, 40, 41, 73, 74, 75 and blank) by the positions (A, B, C, D). Not sure how he gets 16 either, but....
Oh, typed too slow - don't need the other car numbers?

nearly. What I'm looking for is for eg.
    Unit 01
Car 30, Position A, followed by data for last entry based on highest mileage
Car 30, Position B, followed by data for last entry based on highest mileage
    continued for all 16 positions
The axle list report in my last posting report i need, but just needs repeating for the 86 units
    Hope this is of use
    Ben
