this notification keeps on showing even though how many times I closed it.
Yes it did detect a problem and says that it failed to fix and to quarantine it.So its action is to delete it....and it did. But why is it that the notification still shows everytime. I need help to stop it from showing. I already scanned my computer and it didn`t detect anything anymore. Pls. give advice. Thanks.

hi,
At the moment, here are the details that I can give you :
Backdoor.Sdbot
File:c\windows\system32\msdirectx.sys
Location: c\windows\system32
comp:RPC00502020-1
user:RPC-050220-01

this is not the complete notification, I`ll post it later today.
It states that it failed to fix and quarantine so it deleted the problem.
there`s a sign w/c has a triangle w/ an exclamation point inside a yellow background.
thanks.

Go here to download CCleaner.
  • Install CCleaner
  • Launch CCleaner and look in the upper right corner and click on the "Options" button.
  • Click "Advanced" and remove the check by "Only delete files in Windows temp folders older than 48 hours".
  • Click OK
  • Do not run CCleaner yet. You will run it later in safe mode.

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here.
  • Install Ewido.
  • During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Launch Ewido
  • It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
  • On the left side of the main screen click update
  • Click on Start and let it update.
  • DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

Click Here and download Killbox and save it to your desktop but don’t run it yet.

Rescan with HijackThis, close all browser windows except HijackThis, put a check mark beside these entries and click fix checked.

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe sysmon32.exe

Then boot to safe mode:

How to restart to safe mode

Now configure your computer to show all hidden files and folders like so:

Go to Start - Search and under "More advanced search options", make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders."

Next, click on My Computer, Go to Tools - Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types". Now click "Apply to all folders." Click "Apply" and then "OK."

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\sysmon32.exe

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

Exit the Killbox.

* Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
  • When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
  • Save the report to your desktop.

Start CCleaner and click Run Cleaner

Boot back to Windows normally and post another HijackThis log and the log from Ewido please.

Rescan with Hijack This and have it fix thes entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mouse] mouse.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [mouse] mouse.exe

Run Killbox on this file:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\mouse.exe

Do a Panda Active Scan. Be sure to save the log it creates.

Reboot and post a new log along with the log from the Panda scan please.

You're getting great help here from Cookiegal, but I just want to note that I see no indication of a firewall running. The Windows firewall is not enabled by default on your OS version (which should be updated after a firewall is enabled and the current scan clean)

To enable the Windows firewall, follow instructions here:

http://www.duxcw.com/faq/win/xp/firewall.htm

Without the firewall and critical updates you are vulnerable to being infected just by being online.
