Hello, new to this site hope to have a great stay!
    But now to the problem..
I have a netgear wireless router and it was working perfectly on my laptop, my desktop and 2 ipods. Now this is the way i have it connected. The modem feeds the wireless router, and the wireless router feeds the desktop through the ethernet cable (since the desktop does not have a wireless card) well just two days ago whenever I try and use the desktop the pages do not load unless I plug the modem directly to the computer, but if I use the ipod with the wireless router everything is fine, although if i use my laptop with the wireless router the same problem from the desktop comes up. Im not sure what might be causing this? Ive tried restoring the factory settings on the router but no luck.

Also in case this problem might be confusing(the way i explained it) i can upload a video on youtube so the problem can actually be seen.

sounds like a router issue as its happening on two machines regardless of cable or wireless

whats the exact model of the netgear router

Make and models of pc and laptop
lets also see a wireless xirrus screen shot

lets see the following when its working and then when you have the problem

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    {ipconfig /all}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results here
    -> Start
-> (XP - enter the following in the RUN box)
    cmd /k ipconfig /all
-> (Vista or Windows 7 - enter the following in the Search box)
    cmd /k ipconfig /all

A black box will appear on the screen -
    rightclick in the box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy

    then reply here and
control key + V to paste
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    {Ping Tests}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

Start> Run {search bar in Vista}> CMD to open a DOS window and type:

    Type the following command
    Ping {plus the number thats shown against the default gateway shown in above ipconfig /all}
    Post back the results
    rightclick in the box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy
    then reply here and
control key + V to paste

    Type the following command
    Ping google.com
    Post back the results
    rightclick in the box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy
    then reply here and
control key + V to paste

    Type the following command
    Ping 209.183.226.152
    post back results
    rightclick in the box
    select all
    enter
control key + C key - to copy
    then reply here and
control key + V to paste
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    {run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

    http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php
Direct link to the program is here http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifi_download_redirect.php
Then run and install the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

    Run the program

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

Please clarify--using the laptop with ethernet, or with wireless, or both ways gets the problem?

    Ok im back.
The netgear router is rangemax WPN824 v3
Also just in case this might help while I am using the Ipod touch with the wireless connection things are ok but then after a few minutes the ipod stops receiving data and then after a few more minutes it starts receiving data again, it just goes on and off.
If i try and use my laptop with the same wireless internet the laptop does not receive anything but it does find the status of the wifi.

And im thinking it might be the router the one that might be busted.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
for the laptop: this was all done while it was connected with the wireless router

those ipconfig and pings all look good - except this one

I'm assuming this was connected directly to the modem and not the router

the last post when pages do not load - you do have a connection to the internet

Make a note of any settings and then you could try resetting the router back to factory condition and then make sure the settings are back OK

The desktop connected by cable to router - has "page does not load" occur
The laptop connected by cable to router - has "page does not load" occur
The laptop connected by wireless to router - has "page does not load" occur
BUT the PING tests all show a connection to the internet

When the desktop or the laptop are connected directly to the modem they work fine

Just agreeing with etaf here, including the suggestion to reset to factory defaults and reconfigure.

I have the same issue with my current router--internet access but pages will not load. Sometimes it will happen 2 or 3 times the same day, and then it may not occur for weeks. A reset or power cycle of the router almost always recovers full access. It just hasn't bothered me enough yet to replace the router.

hey well now the router is working again! thanks for everything!
Well this is what I did in case anyone else experiences this problem...
I tried reseting the router with the little reset button on the wireless devices, and that didn't really work, but I went to routerlogin.net (im not sure if its only for the netgear routers..) and from there went under backup and reset and it took a few seconds to reset and everything was normal again! but well thank you all for helping me today
