Hello all, I am here for my sister's computer which runs windows vista ultimate 32 bit edition. The computer runs fine except, the only thing is that every once in a while i notice large amounts of traffic coming from this machine moving across the computer's router. I find it a little suspicious...The only fix i can find to this is to go to the pc, and disable then enable her wireless adapter and then when the adapter recconects the problem goes away. I have a bad feeling i am dealing with a bot trojan that could be lurking in the system background. I am posting an hjt log and after this i will be running avg antivirus scan, avg rootkit finder, and spybot search and destroy after an update. After i will report results.

Updates: ran superantispyware, and no detections except for some tracking cookies, AVG still running but nothing reported as of yet except a reading error on the boot sector (probably protected by something) but no detections on this thing, next i will run the rootkit finder.

So what would be the next step then? If there is nothing wrong virus wise i would assume i am dealing with a faulty program or some bug in her system somewhere. Glad to hear it is not malware however.

Post in the Vista forum with the information from your post #1 minus the HJT log.
