Since I have connected my computer to a router, i have had problems watching streaming video. When I was connected directly to the modem, it would start playing right away, and would play the entire video without a problem. If I had to pause, it would resume as soon as I hit play again. Now with the router, videos stop repeatedly and I have to wait for it to download before it will resume. If I pause, it has to download all over again. Needless to say, this is very irritating.

    Regular browsing is still fast.

Some things you can try here.

    1. Change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
    2. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
    3. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.

How often are the hiccups occurring when you're streaming video? If you're running WPA/WPA2, you may want to check your key lifetime setting. It may be short enough where you're getting hangups when your AP and your PC are renegotiating the connection.
