Two days ago I wiped my hard drive with dban. ( My computer was running slow and there were programs I wanted to delete from the hard drive.) The process took 28 hours. It was seven passes. It completed with this message: dban finished with non-fatal errors....caused by disks with bad sectors.

Today I try to re-install Windows XP, and I get stuck at formatting. It first gets stuck at 14%, so I power off and try again, only to get stuck at 21%.

What do I do now? What went wrong?

The problem resolved itself. After staying stuck at 20% for hours, Windows Xp completed installation.

If I continue getting errors relating to bad sectors though, I'll get a new hard drive.

    Thanks for the input.
