If I have to get Windows Vista to get a new laptop, could anyone tell me a bit about what kind of problems I can expect from Vista?
Question 2: Is there a refurbished Laptop I can buy, HP maybe, that was out before Vista released? Hopefully, one with duo core processor? That way, if it came with Vista, maybe I could downgrade to XP without compatibility issues. Thanks for any help.

Hmmm....sure seems to be a lot of disagreement on that point, which is enough in itself to make me nervous about purchasing Vista.

Vista requires a lot more processing speed and RAM than XP does, so don't settle for anything less than a dual core processor and 2048 MB(2 GB) of RAM.

Once you get Vista set up, you can change it to "classic" mode and make it look a lot like XP, which will ease your learning curve. I have my Vista desktop set up that way.

Although I still prefer XP and have it in 2 of my 3 desktops, I've been using Vista for over a year and have had no real issues with it.

Make sure that you buy the 32-bit version and not the 64-bit version. The 64-bit version seems to be pushed more on buyers now than it used to be. The main problem with the 64-bit version is that a lot of software and hardware still won't work with it.
