Hi; I need to replace my HL-DT-ST cdrw/dvd GCC 4482 with an internal or external dvdrw drive, can someone please tell me of a compatible type/brand that will work. Aidan.

Any drive that fits and has the features you want. All you need to be sure of is that it is an IDE drive and not a SATA like most are now because the connectors are different.

An external drive can also be handy, especially if you have any netbooks with no drives since you'd need one to repair or reinstall (unless you can use bootable USB).

Hi Elvandil, Is IDE the same as ATA. Also, do you know how to get rid of the unbelievably annoying "search companion" from windows xp pro.
