Dell Win 7 laptop had a HDD failure.

Replaced HDD with new HDD and reloaded from the (2 year old) recovery disks I cut shortly after buying the PC.

Rebooted fine and loaded Office, personal files, etc. and called it a day.

Today, fails to start, so ran diagnostics:

Message: System files integrity check and repair - Failed ... Error code: Oxa

Problem Signature 5 Auto failover

OS version 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1

Thanks for the link. I'm out of warranty, so I ended up re-loading a couple of times and it's now working. I assume it was one of the many, many updates that caused the problem, so I'm loading them just a couple at a time
