Windows XP sp2 preinstalled on my Dell Inspiron 6000. How do I make a usb device look at a specific .sys driver file? without having an inf file?

You don't. The inf file is necessary for the registry entries that allow the driver to load.

If you're up for it, you could create the registry entries yourself. Look under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and see how others are configured.

You could also export the reg key for a similar driver, paste it here to convert it from a reg file to an inf, and then alter it to fit your driver.

We're talking some work here.
