XP has no use for these files unless old 16 bit programs are used, in which case they may have entries.

    Is it okay to uncheck

    Process SYSTEM.INI File

    Process WIN.INI File

and hopefully shorten the startup process?

This is what they look like in one of my XP SP2 computers, which is a 5-year old Compaq Presario:

    SYSTEM.INI
