I have just rebuilt an old PC with various new parts. I thought the processor fan speed would be controlled by the new mobo - but it goes full speed all the time.
The mobo is a Foxconn RC4107MA Intell 775. with a celeron 3.06 processor.
I have checked the bios settings and there is an option for 'Smart Fan Control' which is enabled. Anyone any ideas why the fan speed is not being controlled. Is there something missing??

    what is the cpu temp?
    if it's a bit high,
maybe a reapplication of the thermal compound,

The fan has 3 wires, and they are connected properly to a 3-wire CPU fan connector on the motherboard?

The CPU temp is fine and the fan does have the normal 3 wires connected..

Without a small 3- or 4-pin fan connector, the fan speed can not be controlled without an external voltage regulator.
