OK, I HAVE OFFICIALLY HAD IT!!!!!!!

Can't play games, because this stupid hourglass thingy will NOT stop running, and running until it eats up all the memory, and then I am totally stuck, looking at a frozen sceen, no mouse use, no nothing, then all I can do is just shut it off at the big blue button. CRAP!!!!!

I am sooooo disgusted. Was in the middle of a tournament that time, so you can tell that I am about ready to throw it out of a window.

    Please HELP!!!!!!!

    Thanks cheeseball for answering!!!

I am using IE now, but when gaming I usually use AOL. HMMMMMM

Was just reading through all of the forums I can find under the search work "Freezing", and I noticed that the hourglass thingy is not happening to me now.

So I was just wondering about AOL or hidden programs running in the background?????

Freezing can be caused by so many things, but you also have a lot of programs running. Especially ones that love to eat up resources. AOL is one of them. Norton is another.

So, besides getting rid of Norton's or AOL, is there anything else we can do? Never had this problem until now, and have always had these programs running.

I am willing to search for the reason this mother is running and freezing if you are game. How about it?

(and this would be a lot easier if we could just use IM) :D

I was just reading back over everything posted in here, and I noticed something by happyrck, and he says that I have something called "proxy.exe" caused by a worm, I can't remember the name, you can look at his post, it was on July 18. Anyway, I do have something called "proxy.exe" that runs practically all the time when I am on AOL. So.....does that give you any clues?????

Just trying to help in my meager way.

3rd post since we talked--please read the other two first.

Think the proxy.exe on my computer has to do with my Ghost Surf program, so probably not the problem.

also, I was able to play games longer last night by using my husband's profile , then signing on to AOL under my name. So AOL is not the problem either.

I have had all these programs running forever and no problem. I did read there is something going on right now with the new Windows Messenger and I did download it, and am using it. Could that be it?

I know I am just reaching, but I really need help---with this FREEZING----I really, really need my computer!!!

Proxy isn't a trojan in this case.
My only thought is to do a System Restore back to before the problem started.

    Ok, here are two things:

    1. Tried system restore several times, and it will not let me; always says system restore failed.

    2. New error message when I signed on as follows:
    WINDOWS INTERNET EXPLORER
    BIG RED X
"InterneExplorer cannot open the Internet site: http://tp.msn.com/en-us/default.aspx?ver=8.0.0792$did=1

    Operation Aborted

    Now WHAT??

Thanks for the fix; I installed it.

Also, since my last post, I have taken the thing apart and cleaned the fan and the insides; wow, full of dust. LOL Also, before that I ran all my scans again in Safe Mode. :D Anyway, they found nothing. But the System 32 error does not come up anymore anyway.

I am going to try to use it again tonight for a while, need it for tomorrow so I can pay bills. If it has another episode of anything, I will let you know, primarily FREEZING!! I did a lot of reading last night on various web sites about pogo, and/or freezing, and none of their problems were mine. I also contacted pogo, and let them know (EA). But it freezes even when I am just reading forums in here, which I did a lot of last night, and it froze, so I finally gave up and went to bed.

Ok, I timed it--for one hour exactly, and my stupid computer kept running the same thing over and over again and I did a wash and found these few files, that it repeatedly kept going, and going, and going.!!!!!! Can you look and tell me anything about them?????

This wash log is only for this session and will be cleared
when the Finished button is clicked. If you need to save this
information for support purposes, please click Copy to Clipboard
and then paste it into an email or text editor.
