For some reason, the system32 folder open up during start up. I searched the forums, and went to
    http://forums.techguy.org/windows-n...tem-32-folder-opening.html?highlight=system32
, trying the solution posted, but I do not know how to follow microsofts instructions (in-experienced with things like that.) Also, an .exe file I tryed downloading is stuck on my desktop, and wont be deleted. I know this .exe file, trust it, just can't figure out how to delete it. I went to the website:
    http://www.maplesea.com/guide/download.aspx
and downloaded the bitorrent version (it IS LEGAL, because they own the copyright and give it out for free.) The program I used to download was ABC. About halfway through the download I decided I didn't actually want it, quit the download and tried to delete the .exe. It gives me this error message:

I do have another problem or two, but I don't remember the error message, and it pops up during start-up, so I'll have to post that in a minute or so. Thank you.

Thanks, I tried the unlocker thing and it worked. But the startuprun program did not, and neither did the microsoft one. I also want to post the other problem I have. I just started today, and I have no idea what it means.

Haha ya I actually did, sounds like you know how to use HiJackThis fine. And yes you do check the boxes and then press Fix Selected. It will do the backup automatically to the folder "backup" in whatever directory hijackthis is in.

Actually I don't. I just used common sense (all the others had (file missing) at the end that you told me to get rid of.) Wait... You did mean the one I said, or the original one you said? o_O (I get so confused about answers like that.)

Please wait for a qualified security specialist to assist you. A mistake here could render your system unbootable, and I see there's already been one made.

MrTRiX, please refer to the TSG Rules, I call your attention to the following:

Ok... I guess I should have read this before fixing something... But I did not fix the 2 things in question at least, just the other suggested. So far, nothing bad, but system32 folder still opens after the reboot.

Hi Untold Prophecy and welcome to TSG,

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
    http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads a text file will open (report.txt), you can close it - the file has already been saved.

Run HijackThis. Click "Do a System Scan Only", and place a check next to the following items (if found):

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{37A98A3E-BA9E-4436-9159-B45572A419D4}: NameServer = 85.255.116.58,85.255.112.173

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{B01F2B0C-F7F8-4177-8E23-EED4142DEB05}: NameServer = 85.255.116.58,85.255.112.173

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{FAB88111-A695-427E-BFA8-46193F2C7110}: NameServer = 85.255.116.58,85.255.112.173

    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.58 85.255.112.173

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.116.58 85.255.112.173

    Click FIX CHECKED. Close HijackThis.

Finally, please post the contents of the text file that opened earlier (you can find it at C:\fixwareout\report.txt ), along with a new HijackThis log into this topic.

    Now we will flush DNS:

In the windows control panel, if you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections.

Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically

Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be available on some systems

Next Go start run type cmd and hit OK and type:

    ipconfig /flushdns

Then hit enter, type exit and hit enter again. (The space between g and / is needed).

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log into this topic.

Sadly no... I just rebooted, and the problem persists, also, McAfee is telling me File Change Detected.

McAfee has detected a potentially unauthorized change to your computer.

    Details
    SystemGuard Name: Shared Task Scheduler
    Change: File Modified

    More Info
SystemGuard Description: The SharedTaskScheduler registry key contains a list of programs that run when Windows starts. Some spyware or other potentially unwanted programs modify this key and add themselves to the list without your permission.

    Process: C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exe
    Process Name: Service Executable
    Process Publisher: Microsoft Corporation
    Affected Items: C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\MP Scheduled Scan.job

If you did not expect this change, McAfee recommends that you block it. If you expected this change, allow it.
