OK, have you used the Tabbed Form Wizard in the Control Box?
I would suggest that you Copy and Paste your current frmEmp with a new name to work with thus preserving the original to compare to.
When you have the first subform in place, perhaps you would like to add the "Search Form" as a subform on the 2nd tab and the "Select Dates" on the 3rd tab?
You could add more tabs for Adding Employees, Classes etc.
So what you have is one form that basically replaces the Switchboard and brings everything together in one place.
Normally of course it would be used to split up Large amounts of data in to managable pieces.
I added the frmSearch form an dthe frmDateSelect2 form to the tabbed form. However, both the search and dateselect2 stopped working. Would you like for me to post what I have for you to review?
The problem is that your original Queries looked at your original forms for their Criteria Input, and you have moved them on to another Form, so you have to change their names.
If that doesn't work (the Criteria Syntax can be a pain) then you have to put "dummy" fields on to the Mainform to hold the data.
So now you can see one slight disadvantage.
You have a go at renaming the criteria by adding the Mainform name before the original form's name ie
Forms![mainform]![Subform]![Field].
If you can't get it to work post the database and I will have a go and if that fails we can addd the dummy fields.
I believe I have the command buttons on the frmEmpTabbed form working properly as well. If you would not mind, please review the attached database and let me know if you think anything else needs to be done further. Also look at the code behind the frmEmpTabbed form.
Well, I think it is looking pretty good.
You could tidy up the Forms a bit, the Main Menu is showing the Properties all the time, instead of only in design mode.
The Tabbed versions of the subforms don't need "Close" buttons, but you would need new forms as the stand alone versions do need them.
You could add Employee Ages and Query by Age.
You could add Departments and Query by Departments. (is that what Cells are ?)
You should add a query/form or query/report to show if employee's Certifications are expiring and need renewing.
You could create a Crosstab query and show Tests taken / Certificates issued by Month.
Do the Tests have "Grades"?
OK, take a copy of you Query "qryEmpInfo" and paste it with a new name.
In it's Criteria row type in
Between Date and Date + 30
that will give anything due in the next 30 days.
Make it + 7 for the next week and therefore more urgent to arrange something.
You could have that one run automatically when the database is first opened.
One thing that you haven't got is a "planned Class Date" to go with it, assuming that the 2 are related.
If they are you could add that date and set it's criteria to "Is Null" to bring up all those with no planned class.
