In AOL Instant Messenger, the taskbar icon would flash when receiving a message in a window. it no longer does this and is very annoying since i do not use sounds and i need some sort of visual notification. the problem is the same in this thread:

but it still goes unsolved as far as i can tell. i have change the option in AIM as suggested in that thread as well as using TweakUI to change the number of times the taskbar flashes as well as preventing applications from stealing focus. i have tried using accessibility options to use SoundSentry but to no avail.

I am using Windows XP, AIM version 5.5. Could it be an AIM problem or is it windows related? i have reinstalled and changed AIM versions several times but no help.
