The scanlog does not appear infected.

But try checking and fixing the following items:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

^^ this item can be associated with address bar searches.

Additionally go to the Internet Options > Programs tab and select "reset web settings".

Clear your Temporary Internet Cache, History, and Offline content.

Select the Search option in Internet Explorer, then "change preferences" > "change internet search behavior"

Make sure you have a prefered search engine, such as Google, associated with your internet searches.

Also restore your HOSTS file to its original defaults by downloading, unzipping and running the following application:

Hoster: http://www.funkytoad.com/download/hoster.zip

Let me know how that goes.

i noticed that the URL search hook was missing... i am not sure how to fix that... nor do i really know what this should read, ( R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm) if it is not something left over from my previous problem... my ears are open to suggestion as to how i should fix these.... i did complete all that you had asked of me in the reply, and nothing happened good nor bad... it is still the same..

Run HijackThis, selecting "do a system scan", put checks in both those entries (just those!) and click "fix checked".

Then reboot and run Hijackthis again. Both those entries should be gone. Test your search function again.

What search engine is selected for "internet search behavior"?
