    Hi,

I have old email account with Orange webmail. it used to be Freeserve so that's how old it is.

    my email address ends: @fsmail.net

Orange are mucking about changing their website due to EE etc and logging into my fsmail account is now a pain so I thought I would try a new free webmail and according to forums etc Gmail is the best. Gmail states you can transfer an old email account to theirs and this imports contacts, and old emails etc.

I have a lot of archive emails I want to keep so being able to transfer my old account to another sounds great but I cant do this as Gmail does not recognise my old account.

I might be entering the wrong POP or whatever but tried loads of different information and assume Orange and Gmail are just not compatible?

Can anyone advise on the above or recommend another free webmail provider and if possible one which is easier to transfer old accounts into?

    thanks

POP3 has to be supported in the old email account by reading through this

If it isn't the long and tedious process is to forward emails to the new account. Unfortunately this is one at a time. I did this but I didn't have tons of email sitting in the old account.

The other option is to install an email program on your computer and then download all the archived emails from Orange.

Hotmail can import all of your emails, folders and contacts for you. I just recently imported everything from my Yahoo account into my Hotmail account. It was done seamlessly and went off without a hitch.

allheart can I ask why you transferred from Yahoo please?
