Not sure if I'm in the right place here but can anyone suggest a good language translator. I have had a look at Babylon 5 and it appears that it could contain Malware or other nasties. Regards KO :(

I use Google Translate for e-mail messages I sent to international colleagues and customers. I haven't used the current version of Babylon. I went to their website, and I was prompted to download software. I click on the "Close window" link, and there seemed to be a website similar in function to Google translate.

    Google Translate:
    http://translate.google.com/

either Google or Bing translators are both reasonable.
It depends on the individual language you want to translate
I find with Common European languages, like French, German or Italian or Spanish, either are quite effective
BUT when it comes to Chinese, Japanese, or Russian then there can be quite vast differences. Bing is definitely better for Russian, but Google for Chinese

    Avoid Babylon like the plague
It used to be the best translator around, but has changed so much and is now seen as malware by most experts & anti-malware programs/tools because of their hidden installs & browser addons that corrupt your browser & divert all your searches

Thanks Derek. I had my suspicions about Babylon after a bit of a search around. I'll give that a big miss. I have found one which doesnt required any downloads http://www.euroresidentes.com/translation/spanish_english_translation.htm It has all that I need at present and so far i've been trialing it quite a bit today and the the translations are pretty accurate.

Thankyou for your input Reardon. Unless you feel that I may have any issues with the above Derek: may as well consider this thread closed...KO

that is google translator being used by the site
so should be quite safe to use with no problems and if it has all the languages you want or need, then use it.
