    Hey Guys, (And Girls)
Im back after a long absence,
I was wandering if any of you were able to analyse my HJT log and tell me how to get rid of this trojan.
I ran Scans from my Norton Antivirus (Provided as a package from BT Yahoo! Broadband),
NOD32, Spyware Search And Destroy as well as A-Squared Security, all in safe mode. I also ran VundoFix in and out of safe mode. (Thought to just try it) (I also only ran one at a time, so there shouldn't be any conflict issues since i made sure only the processes belonging to the security software i was using was running, so there shouldn't be any conflict issues.

But not one of these found a trojan. I tried finding the file, i was originally in my temp folder (e.g. <Name>\Temp or wherever it is stored, which i have since tried to clean out, and then another time my Norton picked it up in my Windows\Temp folder.
Norton tells me it cannot delete or quarantine the file, so it denies access to it.

Here is my HiJack This Log:

Please Download MsnVirRem.exe to your desktop from one of the following sites.
    http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/MsnVirRem.exe
    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/index...326d76342249f3027e9f82b&action=tpmod;dl=item9
    http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/MsnVirRem.exe

    · First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
    · Double click MsnVirRem.exe to run it
    · Once open, click the button labelled "Search and Destroy"
<<Your computer will now be scanned for Infected Files>>
    · When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
    · Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
    · After the Reboot, you WILL receive file not found errors (usually 4) please acknowledge them and continue.
    · A Message should popup from MsnVirRem if not, double click the program again and it will finish

Please Post the contents of C:\msnvirrem.log along with a fresh HijackThis log

Evidently the tool no longer works!

Download the HostsXpert 3.8 - Hosts File Manager.
    • Unzip HostsXpert - Hosts File Manager to a convenient folder such as C:\HostsXpert - Hosts File Manager
    • Run HostsXpert - Hosts File Manager from its new home
    • Click "Make Hosts Writable?" in the upper right corner (If available).
    • Click Restore Microsoft’s Host File and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program.
    • Note: If you were using a custom Hosts file you will need to replace any of those entries yourself.
    ========================

You may want to print this or save it to notepad as we will go to safe mode.

Fix these with HiJackThis – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

    F3 - REG:win.ini: load=C:\WINDOWS\system32\wypfstuops\lsass.exe

    F3 - REG:win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\system32\wypfstuops\lsass.exe

    DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip or
    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/killbox.exe

Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by DELETE ON REBOOT. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\wypfstuops

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

    START – RUN – type in %temp% - OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Not all temp files will delete and that is normal
    Empty the recycle bin
    Boot

Download Superantispyware (SAS) free home version

    http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html

Install it and double-click the icon on your desktop to run it.
    · It will ask if you want to update the program definitions, click Yes.
    · Under Configuration and Preferences, click the Preferences button.
    · Click the Scanning Control tab.
    · Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked:
    o Close browsers before scanning
    o Scan for tracking cookies
o Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
o Please leave the others unchecked.
o Click the Close button to leave the control center screen.
    · On the main screen, under Scan for Harmful Software click Scan your computer.
    · On the left check C:\Fixed Drive.
    · On the right, under Complete Scan, choose Perform Complete Scan.
    · Click Next to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
    · After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click OK.
    · Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click Next.
    · It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click Yes.
    · To retrieve the removal information for me please do the following:
o After reboot, double-click the SUPERAntispyware icon on your desktop.
o Click Preferences. Click the Statistics/Logs tab.
o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
o It will open in your default text editor (such as Notepad/Wordpad).
o Please highlight everything in the notepad, then right-click and choose copy.
    · Click close and close again to exit the program.

Hey, i ran all you said, first off, here is the SUPERAntiSpyware log:

I ran killbox, which seemed to delete the file fine, did the start and run bit, deleted the temp folder, i ran the scan on SUPERAntiSpyware, but at the end it did not prompt me to restart, so i did this on my own. It does not seem as if it has found any trojans or malware.
I deleted the folder and the keys in HiJack This.
I still get the pop-up saying it has found a trojan, and now i cannot hear anything from my speakers. I can turn the volume up on the volume icon in the corner by the clock, but it then turns itself back down. i have checked and it is not the speakers.
    *Edit*
I forgot to include HiJack This Log. Here it is :

its Norton anti-virus. It came in a bundle with my internet, so i dont know if it is any different. It complains about a file it has already quarantined, files in C:\ WINDOWS\Temp and soem files in my temporary internet files.

    Empty the quarantine

    DownLoad EasyCleaner http://www.majorgeeks.com/download414.html

Use the clear files and Unnecessary files buttons – I do not recommend
    using the Duplicates files button
as many dupes are there on purpose.

Not all files will delete – that is normal.

In the unnecessary button I check the top 4 entries
    ===========

Turn off restore points, boot, turn them back on – here’s how

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...2001111912274039?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam

This clears infected restore points and sets a new, clean one.

hey, i ran the easycleaner program on the 4 you said you use, along with the clear files button. There were a total of 18 files it couldnt delete. 8 "normal" files and 10 temp files.
Turns out there was 4GB it cleaned! 24000 files apparently, and 22000 of them were quarantined virus files.
I did the system restore steps aswell, although it is still popping up saying the virus is there, in the same places.

Give me some files names along with the path

    http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report

Post a new HiJackThis log along with the results from ActiveScan

hey, sorry for taking an absolute age to reply, i've been away from the computer and i had no prior notice so i was not able to let you know. Here are some examples:

    C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\tmp1c.tmp
    C:\Documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\Portal\1BE035CF.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\tmp2e.tmp
    C:\Documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\Portal\1C112B99.tmp

They always come up with one in WINDOWS\TEMP and then one in the quarantine, then the WINDOWS\TEMP again and have kept repeating this pattern.

I haven't been able to run the panda scan yet, but i will as soon as i get the chance.

    Empty/purge the Norton AntiVirus Quarantine

NOTE: If you have downloaded ComboFix previously please delete that version and download it again!

    Download this file :

    http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
    or
    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Beta/ComboFix.exe

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJack log in your next reply

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
