okay so my first mistake is using Limewire to d/l a program. my bad i know. I recently got an ipod video classic and wanted to put my music/vids on it. i downloaded itunes and found that my music/vids were in mp3 format not mp4 so they wouldn't go on my ipod. this is where i decided to download a converter. after opening one in limewire viruses went onto my computer everywhere. my desktop background changed into a screen telling me to buy an antivirus program to remove viruses and alerts popped up everywhere. i called a friend and he told me to go search for .bmp images until i found the one on my desktop. i did that and copied the last four letters/numbers. el0g. i searched for all files in my registry and deleted them if they had that at the end. problem is fixed. only now my control panel display option won't show desktop options. it just has appearance/themes/settings. also internet explorer keeps having random popups come up constantly. i have popups blocked completely on IE so idk what else to do. here is my HJT log

also for display issues when i used to hold down Fn and use the arrows to change volume on my computer it would flash green bars horizontally across my screen showing volume going up or down and it doesn't do that anymore either.

okay well i don't have the volume thing fixed yet. but i got my display options back up. i just had to go back into the registry

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

that led me to deleting 3 things in there that were preventing my options to be shown. wewt.
