Alright guys, not to long ago, I got a message from Norton saying that A trojan was found, the cleaning failed, and the quarintine failed. Can anyone help me locate the file in this Hijack this log, or tell me how to remove it?

Click here to download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

· Install Ewido.
· During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
· Launch ewido.
· It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen.
· On the left side of the main screen click update.
· Click on Start and let it update.
· DO NOT run a scan yet.

Restart your computer into Safe Mode now.
(Start tapping the F8 key at Startup, before the Windows logo screen).
Perform the following steps in Safe Mode:

* Run Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK.
When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
Save the report to your desktop.

Reboot.

Post a new Hijack This log and the results of the Ewido scan.

OK, Installed Ewido, unchecked the 2 things you told me to, updated, and then scanned in safemode. It found 18 infected Firefox cookies. Here is the log.

Cleaned them all, and then I did another HJT and here is the log. Both scans were done in safe mode like you said.

I have updated my Nortan software, and Scanned, I found nothing. But the message that norton gave me was.

"Trojan was Found
Location: C:\Windows\*******
Action Taken: Cleaned, Failed, Quarantined Failed, Access denied."

So I scanned thinking I would find anything, but still nothing. All updated too. The thing I've noticed is that my computer is taking extremely long to start up. Not the actual start up, but the part where you first turn on your computer, and you get a Windows Screen, with a loading bar. Usually it only takes 5-8 seconds, but now it takes me 30-40. I'm pretty suspecios about that because I'm running on a Toshiba Laptop, with a 3.0 GHZ processor, and 1 gig memory. So I really don;t know if this is a virus problem, or an actual hardware problem it's self. I have already ran a chkdsk /f on my hard drive, and it is still doing the same thing.

Also, does this site accept donations via PayPall? I would really like to donate because this site has been a big help for me in the past month. Thank you.

Yes, you can donate through PayPal. (y)

Run ActiveScan online virus scan:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm

When the scan is finished, anything that it cannot clean have it delete it.
Make a note of the file location of anything that cannot be deleted so you can delete it yourself.
Save the results from the scan and post them here please.

Ok, I scanned for 15 minutes, and it finds some infected files, and then it just stops there. I have rescanned, but it keeps stopping at the same spot. This is the log:

I know the last two are emails I have in my MSN storage, and I don't want to delete them, But I deleted all the rest. Thank you for all the help so far.

There is something wrong with the start up, it takes about 6 minutes just to start up the whole computer, 1 whole minute to start up the Windows Loading screen, when it usually takes 10 seconds max. And now the start up is lagging extremely, and takes 4 minutes to fully load. But once it loads, it's all fine, and doesn't lag at all.

Is it because I have 4 gigs left of space on my Hard drive? I heard XP slows down tremendously with under 10 gigs. Is that what's causing the slow down?

Click Start | Settings | Control Panel
Click the Java Plugin Icon
Click the Cache tab
Click the Clear button and click OK to confirm
Note: Please repeat this procedure for each "Java Plugin" button in your Control Panel.

or

Control Panel > Java > General tab
Temporary Internet Files > Delete Files
Checkmark all 3 options and click OK.

Post a new Hijack This log afterwards.

Do you think my hard drive might be messed up cauing the extremly slow boot, I can easily replace it. The reason I'm thinking this is because i know virus's and spyware, will slow down the start up, but I don't think they can actually slow down the Windows Loading screen...

Alright man, thank you for all your help. This laptop is still under it's warranty, so I'll see if I can get a replacement hard drive, but first I will burn all my important data to dvd's. Thank you for all the help.
