    Hi,
Avira anti-virus kept detecting a trojan, TR/Monder.qke and after selecting delete, it still detected the trojan. I ran a full scan in safe mode and it detected the same trojan along with others (TR/Agent.6938 and TR/Monder.qkd - 3 times). The other trojans could be deleted but for TR/Monder.qke it said it was unable to delete because I 'didn't have the administrative rights to delete it or the file was locked.'

Before Avira detected the trojan, I was having problems with windows starting up with a blank desktop with no icons, taskbar and no right click function. I could only get my laptop to work by using ctrl+alt+del and typing in explorer.exe and restarting a few times, but it seems to be getting worse now and everything seems to close all of a sudden. The system is running very very slow. Are the two problems related and how can I get rid of these problems. Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance. Here is the HJT log, also i'm running windows XP, :

Please print these instructions for reference, as you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

    Please download FixWareout from >>Here<<.

Note: You will need to run this tool while having an Internet Connection. The tool will download other files while running.
    1. Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
    2. The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
    3. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional files from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
    4. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
    5. Once the desktop loads a text file will open (report.txt).
Please post the C:\fixwareout\report.txt ), along with a new HijackThis log into this topic.

Please update your version of HJT.
    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{6D382E41-9168-4118-88DF-5354149A2C70}: NameServer = 85.255.115.75,85.255.112.109
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{EFF6BF41-CBCD-4FDB-A3AC-B5C332B6C209}: NameServer = 85.255.115.75,85.255.112.109

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Go to Control Panel. - If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category. If you are in Classic View, go to the next step .

    • Double-click the Network Connections icon
    • Right-click the Local Area Connection icon and select Properties.
    • Hilight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.
    • Be sure Obtain DNS server address automatically is selected.
    • OK your way out.

Go to Start > Run and type in cmd
    • Click OK.
    • This will open a command prompt.
    • Type the following line in the command window:

      ipconfig /flushdns

    • Hit Enter
    • Exit the command window

Now restart your machine and see if the link works.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

    O2 - BHO: TBSB02751 - {25875464-7327-417C-8264-902D99CF6FD1} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7499C7D9-F599-4B91-B0FC-FBEA946A5692} - (no file)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: cbXQjghi - cbXQjghi.dll (file missing)

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

    • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    • Under Main choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop. alternate download link 1 alternate download link 2
    • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
    • Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
    • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
      • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
      • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Then click Finish.
    • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
    • On the Scanner tab:
      • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
      • Then click on the Scan button.
    • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
    • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
    • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
    • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
    • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
    • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
    • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
    • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

I have posted the MalwareBytes and new HJT reports below but the online scan won't work after it checks my computer's configuration - although I have installed the updated version of java, it still says I need to install java 1.5 or higher for it to run. Is this because, I couldn't uninstall Java Runtime Environment SE V.1.4.1? (see previous message above).

    Ok, great!

Delete FixWareOut and any files or folders associated with it.

Flush your system restore and set a new restore point.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310405

Malwarebytes can be uninstalled or you can keep it and it will work as long as you manually update it, unless you purchase.

    Take care.

    You're welcome!
