My computer has been infected with several viruses for a few weeks now and I have be unsuccessful in removing them myself, therefore, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Problems usually occur while I'm browsing the internet (I primarily use Firefox, but once in a while Internet Explorer will open a window on it's own...). I'll try to open a certain page and it won't load, but the "problem loading page" page never comes up either. I have found that manually ending the "explorer.exe" process and then starting the process up again will temporarily solve my problem (but I obviously don't want to be doing that every time I need the internet). Sometimes everything on my desktop will disappear except for the background and then momentarily all return back to normal. Also, only about once a day, a new tab will open in Firefox that I had not requested.
Symantec has notified me of several trojans it has found including Zlob, Vundo, and Metajuan. It says they have been deleted successfully, however, I will later receive another notice about the same trojan (with a different .dll filename). One Trojan.Vundo notification that kept reappearing (over 100 times in two hours) had the filename "yayvwts.dll" and Symantec said the action taken was "left alone" until it finally was able to delete it successfully (I have no idea if that was useful information or not, but just in case...).
I have downloaded and scanned my computer with Ad-Aware 2007 and Spyware Doctor, the latter of which has found a lot of adware and the trojans ConHook and Virtumonde. I usually remove everything they find, but I'll scan again the next day or so and the same things keep being found.
I have previously installed and used P2P file sharing programs (utorrent and limewire, to be exact) which likely gave me these problems in the first place, so they have now been uninstalled (although I've learned from experience that uninstalling programs doesn't always get rid of everything you installed in the first place...)
My computer model is a Dell Latitude D600 and my operating system is Windows XP with service pack 2. I've had it for over 4.5 years, so it's been through a lot
