You can uninstall it a couple of ways. You can click start, go to the Live Essentials folder, click on it an click uninstall, or you can go to the remove programs feature in the control panel.

Does it say a program is blocking it or using it?

When you click Start, Programs, Go to Live Essentials folder, right click on uninstall and choose Run as Administrator. If that doesn't help, try getting into Safe Mode by starting you computer and tapping F8 and try.

did as you suggested. in the first I have deleted my administrator password so I couldn't do as suggested. in the second, safe mode it would not let me delete the program saying "you required permission from system to make changes to the folder. I tried every password I had but now I do not have a password. I know there are some corrupt files in there somewhere so if you know how and how to clean the registry pass it on, I ll try anything

If its asking for your administrator password then you are not using an account with full administrative privileges or your account if really messed up. Do you have another account you can log into and try the uninstall? Can you create a new user account and set it as an administrator account?

for the benefit of all who helped me a heart felt THANKS. not really sure what i did to fix it but all of your suggestions helped. it went something like this, I reestablished myself as administrator then mail went into properties security changed the system around to deny then back to allow and deleted what was in there, then I downloaded windows live essentials and to my surprise it took.
