Hello I have a HP Pavilion dv5003 cl Notebook PC Wndows XP. My problem is I cannot connect wirelesss. This laptop model has a wireless button to turn on and off, for some reason it doesn't work anymore. When I start>control panel>network connections the only thing I see is the local area connection using the ethernet cable, the wireless network connection is not even an option anymore. Ive also notice that while trying to Reinstall wireless device drivers( thinking that may be the problem, has suggested by hp customer care) by start>my computer>properties>harware>device manager> network adapters where there should be the option "wireless lan" there's none. Only an option that says:realtek rtl8139 family pci fast ethernet nic . Please, any suggestions?

Are there any warnings or errors in Device Manager? If so, maybe one of those is the missing wireless adapter. Otherwise, ...

Check in the BIOS (or Setup) to see if the wireless somehow got disabled there.

Then with the notebook unplugged and the battery removed remove the bottom cover that is over the wireless card; remove the card and reinsert it carefully and firmly about 3 or 4 times.

If after the above there is still no evidence of the wireless either the card has died or, just as likely, a part of the motherboard has died.
