Hi all! I'm new to this forum, but I guess that just means I've been lucky enough not to need help until now....

I don't know how (honestly), but I've got this stupid Rhapsody Media Server installed on my system. It doesn't appear to be hurting anything, but I don't know enough about it to be sure. Every now and then a little computer with a "v" above it (simulating an antenna, maybe?) appears on my taskbar along with a pop-up saying "Rhapsody Media Server New Device (*random letters/numbers almost like usernames*) A New Device is installed on your system". When I click on it, it goes to my My Network folder where there is a single icon for the RMS. But, this icon has no properties available and NO way to delete it! I can't even find the root for it to rip it out of the system.

    Please HELP!!!!

    Thanks. :)

    hi, welcome to TSG.

Download hijack this from the link below. Please do this. Click here:

    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe

to download HijackThis. Click scan and save a logfile, then post it here so
we can take a look at it for you. Don't click fix on anything in hijack this
as most of the files are legitimate.

***EDIT: Problem NOT solved as previously thought. Fourteen or so hours after restoring the system and doing everything I said below, the stupid thing came back. So I'll appreciate any and all help!***

Okay, done. Results below. But I think I fixed this particular problem.

I restored my system last night and reinstalled my McAfee and SpySweeper programs at the same time. When I ran them, I did something I'd not done on previous attempts and that was to select "Disable System Restore" in the File System Troubleshooting box under My Computer's Properties. That was what McAfee's website recommended and I never tried it before.

Anyway, it seems to have worked as I now have no trace of the Rhapsody Media Server and I think I've successfully gotten rid of the 38(!) Trojans and Viruses that I had on my system!

I'm putting this scanlog out there, though, in the hopes that someone can tell me if they see anything else that looks fishy....

    Thanks for the help!!!
