Hi.....I wish to upgrade some of the programmes on my computer but am not sure if I need to have more memory and also more hard drive space. Ideally I would like to download a higher version of Internet Explorer (the one I have at the moment is IE4) but am not sure if this will override the existing version of Internet Explorer or require more drive space or more memory.

Also I have been told that as mine is a fairly old computer it might not be able to handle a bigger hard drive...can anyone advise me on this?

Yes your system is rather old and will cause limitations in some areas.
    1) You can upgrade to IE5.5 SP2 with no problem since you meet minimum requirements. See attached Text.
    IE5.5 SP2 Download

    2) Yes you can upgrade your hard drive but will have to use EZDrive software overlay to handle the larger drive. This is not a big deal though. Maxtor has a couple of easy to use utilities that walk you through the process. If you plan on getting another hard drive might I suggest a Maxtor 30GB minimum which should support your needs now and into the future and also could be used in your new system if you get another one.
Some Examples , Second and third down list.

Of course you can use other than Maxtor and if you already have a larger in mind then that can be used to. You will just use a different Maxtor utility to setup.

    3) The only limiting factor as I see is you RAM. According to Belarc it is showing 48MB but Belarc states RAM shown may be smaller than actual RAM installed. So your RAM could be 64. If you go to Control panel\System it should tell you what REM you have installed.

    4) If you upgrade your Hard Drive you should be able to install other programs and run them since you will have the space, but remember to look at minimum RAM and Processor requirements before attempting download and install of the programs. Many of the newer programs require a much higher processor and more RAM as Minimum.

Here are the links to the Maxtor utilities I spoke about:

Click Here if you are installing a Maxtor Hard Drive or already have a Maxtor onboard and are adding another.
Note: You have a Maxtor Primary Drive C:\ which is 1.34GB in size. If you leave this one in and replace the FUJITSU 1.70 then you can use the above utility.

Click Here if you are installing a hard drive other than Maxtor and do not have a Maxtor already in your system.

Hope that gives you something to work with.
