Wondering if i can run a dual boot running my already installed XP OS then adding Windows 7.

My PC is a Dell Optiplex 755 running Intel Dou core 2 E8200 @2.66GHz with 3.25 GB of RAM.

I'd like to add Windows 7 because my SONAR DAW software demands it. My XP OS is buggy with the drivers etc...

Can this be done? Or would i be better off just buying a new cheap PC that has Windows 7 loaded?

Just so you know... I want to keep my XP OS because I have CS3 loaded.

yes, it can be. We have about 30-40 755's in our office, remnants of when we upgraded to W7. The next model down will not handle it.

So, it can be upgraded. Good news. A few questions for you.

    1) how does it perform under Windows 7?

    2) I have Adobe CS3 installed under my XP OS. So, is it possible to add Windows 7 as a dual boot OS on this machine?

it runs fine; I've maxed out the rigs with ram, pretty smooth until you get about 20 excel apps open.

It's pretty easy to set up a dual boot, not entirely sure how CS3 is going to run however.

    Good to know.

Yes, I'd like to learn how to set up a dual boot with Windows 7.

Ideally, I'd like to add a SSD and put Windows 7 on it. Would that be a good idea?

I've got 2 Dell OptiPlex 755 MiniTower desktops with these specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33 GHz processor

    4 GB DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM(3.24 GB usable)

    Intel Q35 integrated graphics(256 MB)

and they run Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit just fine. (y)

I've never tried Windows 7(64-bit), so I don't know if it has Windows 7(64-bit) driver support for all of the devices in the Dell OptiPlex 755.

Maybe valis can answer that for you.
