    Hi jknapp, welcome to TSG.

Make sure you are typing it in correctly. It is CASE sensitive.....

also be sure you're not mistaking L's for 1's, which is common and 0's for O's.

That can sometimes be caused by a dirty CD, the CD drive itself or a bad CD. I'd try copying the W98 CD to the hardrive and install it from there. It's a better way to install Windows anyway. That way when you add or remove windows components, you won't need to be constantly inserting the CD. It will get what it needs from the harddrive.

Boot to your W98 boot diskette with CDRom support then perform these steps.

    First reformat the drive.

    format c: /s

Then do this from an a:\> prompt

    md c:\windows
    md c:\windows\options
    md c:\windows\options\cabs

    Insert the W98 CD.

    copy d:\win98\*.* c:\windows\options\cabs\*.*

    Now remove the CD.

At the a:\> prompt type in the following and press enter.

    c:\windows\options\cabs\setup

You'll be prompted during the install that the Windows folder already exists and it will suggest you install to Windows.000

Remove the .000 from the end and let it install to the existing folder Windows

    Let us know what happens.
