Is there a way have windows search always use Advanced Options, such as search hidden files, system folders, etc... ?

In XP? sure is, next time you do a search and the search companion opens, click "more advanced options" and tick "search hidden files and folders. It should stay selected on future searches also.

Thank you. Yes, I knew that. What I actually want is to skip that annoying initial screen that keeps asking me if I want to search pictures, music, video, documents or all files.

I always want to search all files. I hate that extra step. Is there a way to skip it?

The other day, when I was browsing through the products in one of my favorite downloadable utilities, I came across this one. It seems like it fits your request: Better Search Defaults.

    Does it?

Now??? Now you're coming? You could have saved me those 99 cents if you gave me this information earlier... :p

Then again, it's only 99 cents and I got a chance to learn about that nice software candy site. At least they stand behind what they say.
