I'm looking for a manual for this laptop that I inherited. For starters, I'd appreciate it if some could just tell me how to adjust the screen brightness/contrast (assuming the screen isn't actually dying!). Thanks.

Most laptops have a function key (FN) on the keyboard. You usually press this key with the key that has a picture that looks like a sun for the brightness. The contrast key usually looks like a circle half filled in.

Did you look at Toshiba's website for the manual?

I had found that support site, but if you haven't been there lately, the link for the user guide says the folder is empty. So thank you very much for the other link.

P.S. - wow, that was a quick response...and duh, I found the contrast wheel after a little further investigation of the right side of the screen case.

I tried both of the links that Squashman posted, they were both good.

You have to go into the downloads section to get to the user guide. It is an interactive program. It is not a PDF file like most user guides today.
